At Home Outdoor Workout

Sometimes I just can’t (read: don’t want to) make it to the gym. I know that the motivation of those around me or a scheduled class provides a better workout but it can be annoying to get there and get back. Over the Fourth of July weekend, my brother shared his Iron Tribe Cary vacationers workout that kicked our butts. It was body weight strength training between sets of interval runs. While it may sound easy, get ready for a workout that will have you feeling sore the next day.

Since then, I have adapted their workout to fit my own needs. All you will need is a cardio of choice. I chose a run down our long, winding 300m driveway between sets but stair climbing inside your house, a run down your cul-de-sac, jumping jacks, or just about anything you choose should do the trick.

It goes like this…

3 rounds

300m Run

Mountain Climbers (1st round – 30 reps, 2nd round – 20 reps, 3rd round – 10 reps)

300m Run

Squats (1st round – 30 reps, 2nd round – 20 reps, 3rd round – 10 reps)

300m Run

Walking Lunges (1st round – 30 reps, 2nd round – 20 reps, 3rd round – 10 reps)

300m Run

Sit Ups (1st round – 30 reps, 2nd round – 20 reps, 3rd round – 10 reps)

300m Run

Pushups (1st round – 30 reps, 2nd round – 20 reps, 3rd round – 10 reps)

300m Run

Ready, Set, Go!
